County Week 2025: Northants Rise to the Challenge

The energy on the final day of County Week told the full story: Northants delivered with precision and passion.

Women’s Team
Re-energised after a rest day, they returned with purpose against North of Scotland. Three electrifying tiebreaks eventually turned into a 6–3 win, securing 2nd place overall and promotion to Group 5 for 2026.

Men’s Team
Facing a must-win scenario to stay in Group 1, the men demonstrated grit and belief, ultimately clinching a tense 5–4 victory. Their reward: retained Group 1 status for next year.

Congratulations to all involved—players, coaches, and supporters. Your commitment made this happen.

Junior Stars in the Spotlight

These next-gen players are already making waves across Northamptonshire and beyond:

  • Mia & Sophia triumphed at the 14U doubles final at Northampton County Lawn Tennis Club, winning 4–3, 3–4, 10–8 in a thrilling match while donning their matching outfits.

  • Olivia & Isla advanced to the main draw of the Grade 2 9U Nationals in Nottingham. Their shared experience and positive spirit stood out.

  • William, at Carisbrooke LTC’s Grade 4 10U event, won four of his six matches—including two close 4–3 battles.

  • Amayah continues to impress in individual coaching sessions. Her coordination and competitive drive hint at a rising star.

  • Sofia’s Tennis Success – A Summer to Remember

Sofia is on a brilliant run, finishing 3rd out of 27 at the recent Letchworth LTA Tournament, beating 4 out of 5 boys along the way.

The week before, she defeated top Northants county player Brayan in another LTA event – a match that showcased her fearless game. And just prior to that, she was champion at the NLTA LTA Tournament.

With 15 wins out of her last 20 matches, mostly against boys, Sofia is proving herself as one of the most exciting young players on the LTA circuit

  • Wimbledon at NTC – What a Weekend!

Over 70 players took to the courts for our very own NTC Wimbledon Grand Slam, and what a show they put on. Every match was packed with courage, resilience, and passion.

A huge congratulations to Rohan from Kettering Tennis Club on winning his first Wimbledon title, and to Sofia for an impressive run to the final. Shoutout to Dorina for taking home both the Orange and Green Ball titles, Raffi for winning Orange, Oliver for the Red title, and Isabella for her brilliant win in the Red event too!

At NTC, we believe competition builds more than champions—it builds character. This weekend, we saw exactly that.

Kettering Club Delivers at Long Buckby Tournament

The Long Buckby Tournament showcased strong participation and excellent results from Kettering Tennis Club. Warm weather and team spirit set the tone.

Special recognition to Simon & Matt, who took home the Men’s Doubles title in an exciting final. Well done also to Chris & Istvan and Kris and Evie for finishing runners-up in a tight tiebreak—and congratulations to all participants for making it a memorable event.

Wimbledon 2025: Champions Crowned

Men’s Final
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner (Italy) defeated defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in four sets: 4–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4. It marked Sinner’s first Wimbledon title, his fourth Grand Slam overall, and he became the first Italian ever to claim Wimbledon’s singles crown.

Women’s Final
Iga Świątek (Poland) stunned Amanda Anisimova in just 57 minutes, winning 6–0, 6–0. The match was only the second “double bagel” in Open Era Wimbledon women’s finals and the first since 1911. Świątek’s sixth major title also made her the first Polish Wimbledon singles champion.

  • Side shuffle right

  • Backpedal
