đ§ TENNIS & HEALTH TIPS OF THE MONTH
1. Summer Footing on Clay Keep your knees slightly bent and slide into shotsâespecially on dry surfaces like clay. Shoes with herringbone soles help!
2. Hydration Reminder Always drink before, during, and after matches. Add electrolytes on hot days. Dehydration can reduce performance by up to 10%!
3. Warm-Up Like the Pros 5 minutes of dynamic stretching + 5 minutes of light hitting = a match-ready body. Studies show proper warm-ups reduce injury risk by 35%.
4. Eat to Perform Consume complex carbs (like oats or bananas) 1â2 hours before play for steady energy. Post-match, mix protein and carbs to speed up recovery.
5. Breathe for Focus Try the 4-7-8 technique before serving: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, exhale for 8. It lowers stress and improves concentration.
6. Use Sun Protection A good quality sports sunscreen (SPF 30+) and a hat can help protect your skin during long matches. Reapply every 2 hours.
7. Build a Tennis Recovery Routine Use a foam roller, stay active on rest days, and stretch after each match. It improves muscle health and helps maintain consistent performance.
đŸ COACHâS CORNER â SKILL OF THE MONTH
The Kick Serve Secret This month, weâre focusing on the kick serveâa great second serve that adds topspin and bounce.
đč Tip 1: Toss slightly behind your head and to the left (for right-handers). đč Tip 2: Brush up the back of the ballâimagine scratching your back with your racquet. đč Tip 3: Focus on knee bend and explosive upward motion.
Try this in your next matchâitâs a weapon even at the junior level!
