LTA Advantage for Kids: The Easy, Fun Guide

What is it?

An LTA Advantage account (free, run by the LTA) is your child’s official UK tennis ID.
Why it matters: Without it, children can’t enter most official competitions or team events.

Why get one?

With an LTA Advantage account, your child can:

Enter official junior competitions and team tennis

  • Have match results recorded and track progress

  • Build confidence, goals, and motivation

  • Feel part of the wider tennis world—not just lessons

Why competition helps:

  • Kids who play regular, age-appropriate competition develop stronger confidence, better coping skills, and stick with sport longer.

  • Short matches create clear goals (serve in, keep the rally, try my pattern) and instant feedback—the best fuel for learning.

  • Playing different opponents teaches respect, resilience, and problem-solving—on court and beyond.

(That’s why most junior pathways in the UK blend practice + light competition.)

Set-up in 5 quick steps (2–3 minutes)

  1. Search “LTA Advantage sign up

  2. Create a parent/guardian account

  3. Add your child’s details (name, DOB)

  4. Select LTA Advantage Play (free)

  5. Link your club (optional, recommended)

You’ll receive a Player ID—and you’re ready to enter your first events.

First-competition tips (keep it simple)

  • Effort over outcome: Learning beats winning at this stage

  • Arrive early: 10 mins to settle, jog, mini-rallies

  • Same routine: Tiny warm-up + two deep breaths before first point

  • Great manners: Say “well played,” thank the organiser

  • Celebrate bravery: Entering is already a win!
